MAZ-6430
The model, which became one row with long-range tractors from Scania and Mercedes Benz, but produced not in Germany, but in Belarus. Unlike its brothers, MAZ-6430 is notable for its economy, but it is not inferior in quality. Detailed technical characteristics and description of external qualities create an objective opinion even for an ignorant person. The whole model range is MAZ.
Car history
The trucks have already become the hallmark of MAZ, and the modifications have become a special style of self-improvement. The next employee, MAZ-6430, began production in 1997, and was built on the basis of MAZ-6422. The previous model is still in demand and used in many structures for transportation. But if there is an opportunity to become better, why not use it?!
And so, once again, a great truck is born, which also improved in the course of production and even received a railing. In 2008, the updated version was seen by the world at the exhibition “MAF”. Everything in the car says that the truck is modern, has a lot of useful functions for work, and seeing it on the road you know that the driver feels confident.
Cabin and body
Externally, MAZ-6430 is similar to the representatives of the same MAN class. Plastic wings, bumper and grille look spectacular against the background of white cab body. Headlights, dimensions, and turntable repeaters are located on the front bumper. Optionally, you can install additional light on the roof – spotlights and signal lights in the form of dimensions. There are also a lot of small details and updates to the parts to improve the machine’s performance and aerodynamics.
The front bumper has the additional function of a protective cover for the toolboxes that are hidden behind it. The so-called contact with others has also been improved. The mudguards are designed to reduce interference with other drivers on the road and minimize self-contamination. The body is equipped with all the necessary mirrors:
- Rear view provides good visibility and minimises the distance to the dead zone (before the EU requirements start);
- Black view mirror;
- Like loading dock mirror.
The side mirrors are equipped with an electric drive for adjustment.
The frontview mirror not only shows the front of the body, but also the road directly in front of the car. Looking into the cabin you understand that compared to the drivers on older models, here the driver feels good and comfortable. The seat is large and comfortable, equipped with side supports both on the sides and on the pillow.
Being well fixed in a chair with an armrest, the driver can also adjust it to his physical data. Adjustment modes are higher than usual: back tilt, seat height, seat extension, tilt and cushion height, retractable armrest. The manoeuvring is done with the help of a comfortable steering wheel, whose column can be adjusted in height, inclination and outreach, which also improves the comfort of the driver when driving a tractor.
The diameter of the steering wheel is 460 millimeters. This operation is carried out with the help of a special pedal near the clutch pedal. Then behind the wheel is the dashboard. It is located behind the wheel so that one does not interfere with each other, and in the dark all the functionality is highlighted.
Additional switches and buttons are located on the panel to the right of the driver. It deviates from the main torpedo by about 45 degrees, which does not force the driver to reach far. The introduction, which shows that MAZ-6430 is really modern – a small LCD screen that allows you to monitor the working systems of the tractor. The folding table in the center of the dashboard is a necessary and practical thing. Sleeping places have been re-equipped for the better, they have become more comfortable. Drivers can rest with comfort, even while driving.
The passenger, whose seat is similar to the driver’s seat and the space in front of the seat is quite large, has not been made comfortable either. The height of the cabin allows you to stand in full height, so you can stand up and stretch yourself, even in bad weather. Among the important things we would like to point out the drawers with convenient access and good lids that keep the cargo inside. Noise insulation is another big step for MAZ.
Before that, it was a problem in many of the trucks in this plant. But now, to meet the standards, the entire vehicle is equipped with noise-canceling screens made of polymeric materials. A nice addition is a small refrigerator and a gas stove with a cylinder of 8 liters of gas. All this makes MAZ-6430 fully ready for long journeys.
Specifications
In addition to the extensive restyled appearance, the “6430” model received modern powertrain and other related mechanics. The main focus, as always, was the maximum capacity for work. For this purpose, the developers of the Yaroslavl Machine-Building Plant improved the existing engines for this model. This representative of MAZ tractors has several modifications. This unit is obviously weaker in power, but it is more economical. In addition, all engines for MAZ-6430 trucks have Euro-3 environmental class. The tables show the performance characteristics of the basic models. At different times and in different versions were equipped with foreign engines, such as Renault Trucks; Daimler Chrysler Om501LA with an output of 402 hp; MAN turbodiesel with an output of 455 hp.
Pluses and minuses
The newer the trucks are produced by the Minsk Automobile Building Plant, the more difficult it is to pick on them. Therefore, first of all, we will discuss the advantages of the model under consideration.
- Comfort. The fact that any truck driver will pay a lot for it. In this car there is everything necessary both for convenient management, and for quiet rest.
- Sila. Nowadays, reliability is very important. MAZ cars, even with high mileage, continue to serve their owners faithfully. This refers to the equipment with domestic and German engines.
- Design. Not a very important part, but still a good appearance indicates a responsible approach even in the smallest details.
- Saving. Price range when buying a tractor with mileage – from 400 thousand to 2 million rubles. The official dealer offers new MAZ-6430 at a price of 3.7 – 4.1 million rubles. These prices are much lower than those of European brothers. This, as well as the cheapness in maintenance make the car popular not only among enterprises in the post-Soviet space, but also abroad.
We sum up
The Belarusian manufacturer, together with the factories of Russia, proves that the fraternal peoples can cooperate and, at the same time, get an excellent result from it. MAZ trucks are known all over the world, some of them are invisible, because they are ground for work in quarry conditions or in construction.
But long-haul tractors can be found both on urban roads and on country roads. MAZ-6430 model is placed in the same row with such flagships as Scania 3s or Mercedes Benz Actros 2641. This and many other factors prove that this technique can be trusted with any job.
