Editorial policy
1cars.org is an online catalogue of cars from around the world: model profiles, specifications, automotive history and car news. This page explains how we prepare, check and update our articles.
Who writes our articles
Every article shows its author in the byline. Each author has a profile page with a short description and a list of their articles.
Sources and fact-checking
- Technical specifications (dimensions, engines, power, production years) are checked against manufacturer data: official press releases, brochures and technical documentation.
- When sources disagree, we give the manufacturer's figure and say which version or market it applies to.
- Prices are given in euros (EUR) unless stated otherwise, with the year they refer to.
- Historical facts are checked against more than one independent source.
Updates
We review older articles and update them when specifications, model line-ups or prices change. When an article is substantially revised, it shows the date of the update next to the publication date.
Corrections
If you notice an error, please tell us via the contact form. We check every report and correct confirmed errors in the article.
- Factual errors (specifications, production years, prices, names) are corrected in the text of the article itself.
- When a correction changes the substance of an article, the article shows the date of the update next to the publication date.
- Each article is signed by its author; questions about a specific article can be sent via the same form.
Sponsored content and advertising
Paid publications are kept separate from editorial articles. Links in sponsored publications are marked as sponsored (rel="sponsored") for search engines. Advertisers do not decide what we write in our model profiles and news.
How we write news
Our news is based on official primary sources: manufacturer press releases, regulators and safety bodies. Every news article names and links its primary source.
- Checked against the source. An editor checks every figure, date and price against the primary source, adds context for buyers in Europe and the US, and approves the text before publication. The author in the byline is responsible for the article.
- No copying. We do not republish press releases; we explain what is new and what it means for readers.
- Photos. We use official press photos for editorial purposes and credit the source under the image.
- Corrections. Report an error via the contact form; confirmed errors are corrected in the article, substantial corrections are shown with the update date.
Data and methodology
How we source, verify and present car specifications is described on our data methodology page.
Affiliate links
Some pages show a box marked “Ad · Partner” with links to third-party services, such as vehicle history reports or insurance and finance comparison sites. If you buy or sign up through such a link, 1CARS may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are marked as sponsored (rel="sponsored"), they do not influence our reviews, data or calculations, and 1CARS is not a lender, insurer or broker: the provider sets the terms.
