About Skoda

Škoda Auto traces its history to Laurin & Klement, founded in 1895 in Mladá Boleslav by Václav Laurin and Václav Klement to make bicycles; motorcycles followed, and in 1905 the first car, the Voiturette A. In 1925 the company merged with the industrial group Škoda Works of Plzeň, which gave it its name.

Notable models include the Popular, the Octavia of 1959, the rear-engined 1000 MB and the Favorit of 1987. Volkswagen took a stake in 1991 and full control by 2000; today's range includes the Fabia, Octavia, Superb, Kamiq, Karoq, Kodiaq and the electric Enyaq.
