Which EX60 to choose
Our verdict · Felix Hartmann
The P10 is the best value: all-wheel drive, 375 kW, 400 kW charging and 660 km of WLTP range for €3,000 more than the P6 (German prices, 2026). The P6 suits drivers who do not need all-wheel drive or tow heavy loads. The P12 is the long-distance choice with 810 km, but it weighs about 240 kg more than the P6.
As a new model, the EX60 has no track record for reliability yet and no Euro NCAP result at the time of writing. Smaller and cheaper electric Volvos and the plug-in hybrids are listed on the Volvo catalogue page; the company's story is told in Volvo's history.
The Volvo EX60 is a battery-electric mid-size SUV, revealed on 21 January 2026 and built at Torslanda near Gothenburg since 22 April 2026. It is the first Volvo on the SPA3 architecture, with large single-piece castings and a battery integrated into the body structure. Three versions, P6, P10 and P12, offer 275 to 500 kW and up to 810 km of WLTP range, and the larger two charge at up to 400 kW.
In short
- P6: 275 kW (374 PS), rear-wheel drive, 83 kWh, up to 611 km WLTP, from €62,990 in Germany (2026).
- P10: 375 kW (510 PS), all-wheel drive, 95 kWh, up to 660 km WLTP, from €65,990 (2026).

Reveal and production
Volvo presented the EX60 on 21 January 2026 at the Artipelag art centre near Stockholm, in an event streamed online. Production began three months later, on 22 April 2026, at the Torslanda plant in Gothenburg. In size it sits well above the 4.23-metre EX30 and close to the combustion Volvo XC60.
SPA3, megacasting and cell-to-body
SPA3 is a development of Volvo's Scalable Product Architecture. For the EX60 it adds large single-piece castings, known as megacasting, and a cell-to-body design in which the battery is integrated into the body structure. The cells come from Sunwoda for the P6 and P10 and from CATL for the P12, according to Wikipedia.
The electronics are also new. Wikipedia lists an Nvidia AGX Orin platform and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255 processor, with Google's Gemini assistant built in.

Versions and performance
| Version | Drive | Power | Torque | 0–100 km/h | Kerb weight | Towing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P6 Electric | RWD | 275 kW (374 PS) | 480 Nm | 5.9 s | 2,189 kg | 2,000 kg |
| P10 AWD Electric | AWD | 375 kW (510 PS) | 710 Nm | 4.6 s | 2,350 kg | 2,400 kg |
| P12 AWD Electric | AWD | 500 kW (680 PS) | 790 Nm | 3.9 s | 2,431 kg | 2,400 kg |
All three are limited to 180 km/h. The P12 carries about 4.9 kg per kilowatt of power, the P6 about 8 kg.

Battery, range and charging
| Version | Battery (Volvo nominal / Wikipedia) | WLTP combined | WLTP city | Consumption | DC peak | 10–80 % |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| P6 | 83 / 80 kWh | up to 611 km | up to 780 km | 14.9 kWh/100 km | 350 kW | 16 min |
| P10 | 95 / 91 kWh | up to 660 km | up to 819 km | 16.2 kWh/100 km | 400 kW | 16 min |
| P12 | 117 / 112 kWh | up to 810 km | up to 980 km | 16.1 kWh/100 km | 400 kW | 19 min |
Volvo marks the range figures as preliminary WLTP values. The difference between the two battery columns is probably one of definition: Volvo states nominal energy, Wikipedia smaller figures that may describe usable capacity. On alternating current, a three-phase 16 A connection fills the battery in 8 hours (P6), 9 hours (P10) or 11 hours (P12); Volvo lists a 22 kW onboard charger as equipment.
A ten-to-eighty-per-cent stop of 16 minutes on the P10 restores roughly 460 km of WLTP range, about 29 km per minute. Real figures depend on the charger and the battery temperature.
Space and practicality
Volvo gives 523 litres of luggage space behind the second row and up to 1,647 litres behind the front seats, plus a 58-litre compartment under the bonnet. A braked trailer of up to 2,400 kg (2,000 kg for the P6) makes it usable for caravans and horse boxes. The size comparison tool sets its dimensions against rivals and the larger Volvo XC90.
EX60 compared with the EX30
The two electric Volvos share little apart from the badge: the EX30 uses the Geely group's SEA platform, the EX60 Volvo's own SPA3.
| Figure | EX30 (2023) | EX60 (2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Length / wheelbase | 4,233 / 2,650 mm | 4,803 / 2,970 mm |
| Power | 200–315 kW | 275–500 kW |
| Largest battery (gross / nominal) | 69 kWh | 117 kWh |
| Best WLTP range | 480 km | 810 km |
| Peak DC charging | 153 kW | 400 kW |
| Kerb weight | 1,830–1,943 kg | 2,189–2,431 kg |
| German entry price | €36,590 (June 2023) | €62,990 (2026) |
The EX60 is 570 mm longer, with 320 mm more wheelbase, and its best range is about 70 per cent higher. Charging power more than doubles, so a stop on a long trip is far shorter. The EX30 remains the city and second-car choice; the EX60 is built for families and long distances, and it can tow up to 2,400 kg. The entry price is about €26,400 higher, comparing the June 2023 EX30 list with the 2026 EX60 list.
