The Lamborghini Revuelto is the brand's V12 flagship and the successor to the Aventador, built at Sant'Agata Bolognese since 2023. Shown on 29 March 2023, it is Lamborghini's first true plug-in hybrid: a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 works with three electric motors for a combined 747 kW (1,015 PS). Earlier hybrid Lamborghinis, the Sián FKP 37 and the Countach LPI 800-4, used only mild hybrid systems.

History and the name

The Revuelto, code name LB744, was revealed in an online presentation on 29 March 2023 as the replacement for the Aventador. Lamborghini reached full production in July 2023 and delivered the first cars in the last quarter of that year. In 2024, its first full year, 1,406 cars were built. According to a Lamborghini news item cited by Wikipedia, the order book at launch already covered about two years of production.

Like most Lamborghini names, Revuelto comes from bullfighting. Revuelto was a fighting bull that appeared in the arena in Barcelona in the 1880s. The word is pronounced roughly "reh-VWEL-to".

The car is important for the brand's plans. It keeps the naturally aspirated V12 of a Lamborghini flagship but adds a plug-in hybrid system that can drive the car short distances on electricity. The earlier Sián and the Countach LPI 800-4 had used mild hybrid systems, mainly for low-speed drivability.

Design: Y-shaped lights and an open engine bay

The Revuelto was designed under Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini's head of design. It keeps the wedge profile and scissor doors of its predecessors. What is new is the light signature: Y-shaped daytime running lights at the front, with the main headlights placed in the upper corners, and Y-shaped tail lights at the rear.

The engine is not hidden under a cover. Like the Bugatti Veyron and Chiron, the Revuelto leaves the V12 exposed in an open bay. The exhaust tips sit high between the tail lights, and the active rear spoiler is shaped around them. Lamborghini claims more downforce than the Aventador.

The Lamborghini active aerodynamics system ALA is said to be 80% lighter than conventional hydraulic systems. Air vents sit under the headlights and behind the doors. Inside, there is more space than in the Aventador.

Powertrain: V12 plus three electric motors

The L545 engine is a new 6.5-litre (6,498 cc) naturally aspirated V12. It produces 607 kW (825 PS) at 9,250 rpm and 725 Nm at 6,750 rpm. Three permanent-magnet electric motors, including an electric front axle, add 140 kW (190 PS). The total system output is 747 kW (1,015 PS).

Power reaches the wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox supplied by Graziano. The 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery uses pouch cells with high specific power. In electric mode the WLTP range is about 10 km.

Figure Revuelto

0–100 km/h 2.5 s
0–200 km/h 6.6 s

Top speed 350 km/h

The driver chooses a hybrid mode for different situations. In the "Città" (city) mode the car limits its output for daily and urban driving.

Chassis and cabin

The Revuelto uses a new carbon-fibre monocoque. According to Wikipedia, it is 10% lighter than the Aventador's structure and 25% stiffer in torsion, and the front frame is 20% lighter. The rear structure uses high-strength aluminium alloys. The car weighs 1,772 kg dry and 1,880 kg at the kerb.

The carbon-ceramic brakes are large: 410 × 38 mm discs with ten-piston calipers at the front and 390 × 32 mm discs with four-piston calipers at the rear.

The cabin has a new digital instrument cluster. Besides speed and revs, it shows the battery charge, energy recovery, fuel use and the music playing. An 8.4-inch vertical screen in the centre supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa, and a small display in front of the passenger shows speed, the selected gear and the state of the car.

The Revuelto measures 4,947 mm in length, 2,033 mm in width without mirrors and 1,160 mm in height, on a 2,779 mm wheelbase.

Special editions and one-offs

Lamborghini's Ad Personam department has built one-off "Opera Unica" Revueltos with hand-painted liveries and custom interiors, including one inspired by the brightest star in the Taurus constellation and one inspired by Sardinia. For Milan Design Week, a Revuelto and a Ducati Panigale V4 Lamborghini were shown together in a two-tone livery of Grigio Telesto and Nero Noctis, the third joint project of the two brands, called "The Art of Unexpected". Both vehicles carry the number 63 in Verde Scandal green.

In 2026 Lamborghini presented two "Revuelto Italia" editions with a central Italian tricolour stripe. The first, shown on 6 February for the Winter Olympics, is painted Bianco Siderale white and has blue brake calipers. The second, shown on 17 March for the 165th anniversary of the unification of Italy, is Blu Nethuns blue with a blue interior and white calipers. Both run on matt diamond-cut Altanero Titanium forged wheels, 21 inches at the front and 22 at the rear.

Lamborghini's current range also lists a Revuelto SV; its full specifications were not available in the sources used for this article.

Legacy

The Revuelto moves Lamborghini's V12 line into the plug-in hybrid era without giving up the naturally aspirated twelve-cylinder engine. With 747 kW (1,015 PS) it is far more powerful than any earlier series-production Lamborghini V12. For the company's background, see our history of Lamborghini.
