About Mercury
Mercury was a Ford Motor Company brand created in 1938 by Edsel Ford to fill the gap between Ford and Lincoln. It sold larger, better-equipped versions of Ford models as well as cars of its own.
Notable Mercury models include the Monterey, Comet, Cougar (from 1967), Marquis and Grand Marquis, Sable and Mystique, the Mountaineer and Mariner SUVs, and the European Ford Capri sold in America as the Mercury Capri. Ford discontinued the brand in 2011.
