New Kia Sportage 2018-2019: ready to take off!
KIA has several crossovers, but Sportage is almost the most affordable and compact. The first Sportage Koreans released in far 1993. Buyers have access to the 7th generation of cars, which is produced since 2016.
In the Russian Federation, the parquet flooring is on the 2nd place in terms of merchantability among KIA products. The demand among Russian motorists is explained by the following advantages of the car: price, safety, reliability, good cross-country ability, comfort.
Due to lower sales and a total drop in demand for Korean crossover, a decision was made to “refresh” Sportage. The new KIA Sportage 2019 will now compete with Chinese and European SUVs. What has changed in the appearance and technical characteristics of the car, what will be the price and whether the modernized “Korean” will be able to challenge the competitors?
Exterior Sportage 2019
After the official presentation and photo of the new Kia Sportage we can conclude that the changes in design are cosmetic in nature. Instead of global overhauls, Korean engineers decided to take a different path. They slightly retouched the appearance, making it even more attractive.
- The optics are slightly narrowed.
- The rim on the grille.
- Convex stamping makes the new Kia Sportage even prettier and more colorful.
- Bumpers have a stepped design. The corners have become sharper.
- Fog lights with LEDs – 4-point design.
- Air intakes have been significantly expanded.
We also note the increased slope of the roof, LED mirrors, an interesting shape of compact rear lights. These and some other innovations make the new Kia Sportage 2018 recognizable. But the compact dimensions of the car have not changed: 452 centimeters (length), 186 centimeters (width).
The main changes in the interior
Within the updated Kia Sportage 2019, you can notice a significant increase in comfort and ergonomics. To achieve this goal, KIA designers used the following solutions:
- Informative console, enlarged monitor.
- Front seat support has improved.
- The steering wheel is 3-spoke.
- New materials: solid soft plastic, leather, metal inserts, wear-resistant fabric.
- Updated LED lighting.
The above solutions improve the comfort of the vehicle. The size of the Kia Sportage 2018 cabin remains the same.
KIA Sportage 2019 Specifications and Parameters
Crossovers 2018-2019 plan to equip such engines:
- Three gasoline engines with a capacity of 1.6, 1.7, 2.0 liters. The starting version has a capacity of 135 horsepower, the rest – 171 and 240 hp.
- Two diesel engines with a capacity of 1.7 and 2.0 liters. Their capacity is 115 and 195 “horses”.
According to preliminary data, the new KIA Sportage will be equipped with a 6-speed ICPD or automatic transmission of your choice, a seven-band robot. The drive will be front or full. The most important change in design can be considered the use of high-strength steel in the manufacture of the body. This makes the car more controllable and economical.
Additional equipment for the crossover includes 9 airbags, clear control of all blind spots, keyless access and one-touch engine start, climate and cruise control, 19-inch wheels and a navigation system.

In our country the start of sales of the renewed Kia Sportage is planned for the end of the year. There are no details about what will be the equipment and prices of Kia Sportage, yet.
