At launch only the rear-wheel-drive EQE 350 was available. Mercedes added the EQE 350 4MATIC and EQE 500 4MATIC in March 2022 and the cheaper EQE 300 in July 2022, while the Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 and 53 4MATIC+ had been shown in February 2022. ADAC's German price lists show the first cars from May 2022 (EQE 350 Edition 1), the EQE 350+ name from May 2024, and a technical update from April 2025 that raised outputs across the range.
The EQE SUV (X294) was revealed on 16 October 2022. It is 4,863 mm long on a shorter 3,030 mm wheelbase, has a 580-litre boot (1,690 litres folded) and is built in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and in Beijing. Mercedes treats it as a separate model line.

The launch battery is a 400-volt lithium-ion pack with NCM 811 cells and about 90 kWh of usable capacity (89 kWh in the EQE 300 and 350, 90.6 kWh in the 350+). The 2025 EQE 350+ uses 96 kWh, which explains its jump to 691 km. Every EQE charges at up to 170 kW DC and at 11 kW AC, with 22 kW optional; ADAC quotes about 32 minutes to 80 percent on a fast charger. The 505 kW figure for the AMG EQE 53 needs the optional Dynamic Plus package.

Space and comfort
The 3,120 mm wheelbase is long for a car just under five metres, and the battery sits under the floor. The boot is the weak point: 430 litres, rising to 895 litres with the seats folded (carwow). Carwow's reviewer praised motorway comfort, the technology and the range, but found the handling heavy and floaty and the rear space tight for a car of this length. Check parking and garage space with the size comparison tool.
Running costs
ADAC lists the 2025 EQE 350+ at 16.1 kWh/100 km on the WLTP cycle. Carwow's tester saw about 300 miles (480 km) in mixed motorway driving from an EQE 300 with a claimed 384 miles. Mercedes covers the high-voltage battery for ten years or 250,000 km, with a minimum of 70 percent state of health.
Trims and prices
In Germany the EQE is sold as Electric Art or AMG Line, each with an Edition package. The launch Edition 1 models have been dropped.

Safety
Euro NCAP tested the EQE 350+ in 2022 and awarded five stars, with 95 percent for adult occupants, 91 percent for child occupants, 83 percent for vulnerable road users and 81 percent for safety assist. ANCAP adopted the result for Australia. The EQE SUV was tested separately in 2023, scoring 87 percent for adult occupants and 90 percent for children. See all scores on our safety ratings page.
Reliability and known issues
The EQE has no documented pattern of mechanical faults in the sources we used. One incident drew wide attention: in August 2024 an EQE caught fire in an underground car park in Incheon, South Korea, damaging about 140 cars; it was not charging at the time, and the cause was still under investigation when Wikipedia last summarised the case.
Sales
The EQE has sold modestly. In China, one of its two production countries, Mercedes delivered 8,779 EQEs in 2023, 5,291 in 2024 and 2,757 in 2025, plus small numbers of AMG versions (Wikipedia).
