About Haima
Haima Automobile is a Chinese car maker based in Haikou, Hainan province. It was founded in 1992 as Hainan Mazda, a joint venture building Mazda models for China; the name Haima combines "Hainan" and "Mazda" and also means "seahorse" in Chinese.
In 2006 FAW took over Mazda's share, and Haima continued as a FAW company with Mazda-derived technology, building models such as the Haima 3, M3, S5 and S7 and the Freema and Fstar MPVs, followed later by the 7X MPV and the 8S SUV.
