Which 001 to choose and its rivals
Our verdict · Felix Hartmann
The Long Range RWD, €59,990 in Germany in 2026, covers most needs: 200 kW, rear-wheel drive and the five-star result Euro NCAP measured on this version. In the 2026 German list the Performance AWD costs €6,000 more for twice the power and 3.8 seconds to 100 km/h, and suits buyers who tow or drive on snow. The Privilege and Sport Edition add equipment rather than performance.
In size and price the 001 competes with the Porsche Taycan, the benchmark for fast electric saloons, and with the Tesla Model S. Buyers comparing practicality should look at boot space in person, since the fetched sources do not give a figure for the 001.
The Zeekr 001 is a large five-door electric car of 4,970 mm on a 3,000 mm wheelbase, revealed at Auto Shanghai on 16 April 2021 and built in Ningbo, China, since October 2021. It was the first model of Geely's premium electric brand and uses the group's SEA platform. Versions run from a 200 kW rear-wheel-drive car to the four-motor 001 FR with about 930 kW, and the February 2024 facelift moved the car to an 800-volt system.
Zeekr was founded by Geely in March 2021 as a premium battery-electric brand, with its headquarters in Ningbo and An Conghui as chief executive. It listed on the New York Stock Exchange in May 2024, took a 51 % stake in Lynk & Co in February 2025 and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Geely Auto in December 2025. In Europe the brand opened in Sweden and the Netherlands in 2023 and added Germany, Denmark, France and Norway in 2024. Brand deliveries grew from 6,007 cars in 2021 to 224,133 in 2025.

From Lynk & Co concept to Zeekr's first model
The 001 began life with a different badge. Geely showed it as the Lynk & Co Zero Concept at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show, then moved the design to its new Zeekr brand. The production car appeared in April 2021, and Chinese deliveries started in October with 199 cars, followed by 2,012 in November, the first full month. Sales in China reached 71,941 in 2022 and 99,984 in 2024.
In January 2023 Zeekr replaced the Denso motors with units from VREMT and added an optional 140 kWh CATL Qilin battery. A special edition of 1,000 cars with the large battery was rated at up to 1,000 km by the manufacturer. European sales began in 2023, and Zeekr opened its first showroom in Stockholm in November that year. The parent company's wider story is told in the history of Geely.

Versions, power and batteries
| Version | Motors | Power | Torque | 0–100 km/h | Battery |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RWD (Long Range) | 1 | 200 kW (272 PS) | - | - | 86–100 kWh |
| AWD (Performance, Privilege) | 2 | 400 kW (544 PS) | 700 Nm | 3.8 s | 86–100 kWh |

Wikipedia EN also lists the sustained output over 30 minutes: 66 kW for the RWD and about 130 kW for the AWD.
Zeekr gave range figures without naming the test cycle. It quoted up to 700 km for the original car and up to 675, 705 and 750 km for the 2024 versions, depending on trim. These are manufacturer claims; the WLTP figure for a given European version should be checked in the price list.
The 2024 facelift and the 800-volt system
The revised 001 arrived in February 2024 with styling borrowed from the FR. The main technical change was the switch to an 800-volt architecture. With 95 or 100 kWh batteries, the car charged at up to 546 kW on a Zeekr V3 supercharger, and one source reports a 10–80 % charge in under 12 minutes. Zeekr also claims 120 km of range from five minutes of charging, and the car can power external devices with 3.3 kW (vehicle-to-load).
Inside, the facelift brought Zeekr OS 6.0, a 15.05-inch OLED centre screen and a 35.5-inch augmented-reality head-up display. For the 2025 model year, presented in August 2024, the driver-assistance hardware changed to one lidar, 12 cameras, five radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors, with two Nvidia Orin X chips instead of two Mobileye EyeQ5H. Earlier cars cannot be upgraded to this hardware.

Zeekr 001 FR
The FR, launched in September 2023, is the 001 for the track. Four motors produce about 930 kW (1,265 PS), and Zeekr gives 0–100 km/h in 2.02 seconds. It uses the 800-volt system and a 100 kWh battery, and Zeekr planned to build 99 per month. Sales stayed small: 241 in China in 2024 and 11 in 2025. For power figures on this scale, the power converter translates kW into PS and hp.

Safety: Euro NCAP 2024
Euro NCAP tested the 001 Long Range RWD in 2024 and awarded five stars. The car scored 89 % for adult occupants, 88 % for children, 84 % for vulnerable road users and 83 % for safety assist. The four scores are close together, which means no area stands out as a weak point.
