The GTS shares its platform with the McLaren 720S; all current and earlier models are in the McLaren catalogue.
From GT to GTS
McLaren first announced the GT at the Geneva motor show in 2019 and released its details in May of that year. It was built on the platform of the 720S and powered by the M840TE 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with smaller turbochargers, producing 456 kW (620 PS) at 7,000 rpm and 630 Nm. The GT had double wishbones front and rear and a modified version of McLaren's ProActive Chassis Control, called Proactive Damping Control. McLaren quoted 0–100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 9.0 seconds and a top speed of 326.7 km/h for the GT, figures that the GTS only slightly improves.
The GTS, revealed at the end of 2023, keeps the same platform and engine but has an updated design, a little more power and a little less weight. According to Wikipedia it reached dealers in mid-2024, roughly half a year after the first details were released.

Design changes from the GT
At first glance the GTS looks much like the GT; Auto Zeitung describes it as a large facelift. The front air intakes were revised to send more air to the cooling system, the intakes on the rear wheel arches were redesigned, and there is a new ten-spoke "turbine" wheel design. McLaren also added new exterior colours and more options with visible carbon fibre. The rear window now opens electrically and has a soft-close function.
For everyday use the nose can be raised: the ride height at the front increases from 110 mm to 130 mm.

Engine and performance
The 3,994 cc twin-turbo V8 produces 467 kW (635 PS) at 7,500 rpm and 630 Nm between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm. That is 11 kW (15 PS) more than in the GT, while the torque is unchanged. The engine sits behind the cabin and drives the rear wheels.
| Version | Power | Torque | 0–100 km/h | 0–200 km/h | Top speed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| McLaren GT (2019) | 456 kW (620 PS) at 7,000 rpm | 630 Nm at 5,500 rpm | 3.1 s | 9.0 s | 326.7 km/h |
| McLaren GTS (2024) | 467 kW (635 PS) at 7,500 rpm | 630 Nm at 5,500–6,500 rpm | 3.1–3.2 s | 8.9 s | 326 km/h |
The brakes have carbon-ceramic discs of 390 mm at the front and 380 mm at the rear, with six-piston calipers at the front. McLaren gives a stopping distance of 32 metres from 100 km/h.
Practicality and cabin
The GTS is designed to carry luggage. There are 150 litres under the bonnet and 420 litres at the rear, above the engine, under a glazed tailgate with a carbon-fibre deck - 570 litres in total.
Inside, the GT introduced comfort seats with extra padding for the shoulders and back, with electric adjustment and heating standard on the Pioneer and Luxe versions. Nappa leather is standard, with optional hides from the Bridge of Weir Leather company, and McLaren also announced cashmere as a future trim option. A 7-inch central touchscreen controls the infotainment, while the 12.3-inch driver's display changes its layout with the Comfort, Sport and Track modes.

Price in Germany
In Germany Auto Zeitung lists the McLaren GTS from €205,000 (as of January 2025). When the magazine first reported on the car, shortly after its reveal, it described the GTS as available to order straight away.
