Ford Mustang Mach-E 2027: Bigger Standard Battery and a Trail Version

Ford has dropped the smaller battery from the Mustang Mach-E. For the 2027 model year, opened for orders in North America on 22 October 2026, every version gets the extended-range pack: 88 kWh usable for the Select and Premium, 91 kWh for the GT and Rally. A new Trail version adds a little more ground clearance for gravel roads.

Key takeaways

  • Extended-range battery is standard: 88 kWh (Select, Premium) or 91 kWh (GT, Rally) usable.
  • New Trail package for the Select eAWD: +10 mm front and +15 mm rear ride height, all-season tyres.
  • US prices start at US$39,995 (2026, about €35,700) for the Select RWD.
  • Ford has not yet announced the 2027 changes for Europe.

What is new

The biggest change is the battery. On the 2026 car the extended-range pack was an option; for 2027 it is fitted to every Mach-E and the standard-range battery is gone. Official EPA range figures will be published closer to deliveries, so there are no range numbers for the 2027 car yet.

BlueCruise hands-free driving is standard on the GT and Rally and optional on the Select and Premium.

The Trail version

The Trail is a package for the Select eAWD. It raises the car by 10 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear, takes the steering rack and 19-inch wheels of the Mach-E Rally and fits Michelin CrossClimate 2 all-season tyres. A 400 W Pro Power Onboard system adds sockets in the cabin and the boot. "Mustang Mach-E Trail gets a suspension adjustment for improved ground clearance," said Nick Rallis, Ford's lead vehicle integration engineer for the Mach-E. The Trail is due in the first quarter of 2027.

With the destination charge, the Select RWD starts at US$42,040 (2026, about €37,500). In Canada the Select AWD starts at C$48,995 (2026, about €31,100). All euro figures are conversions at October 2026 exchange rates, not European prices.

What it means for European buyers

The Mach-E is sold across Europe and the UK, but Ford's announcement covers the US and Canada only, and Ford has not said whether the larger standard battery or the Trail will come to Europe. If you are buying a Mach-E in Europe now, check which battery the car has. The standard-range pack gives noticeably less range, and that gap will matter more on the used market once the bigger battery becomes the norm.
