- For a lower price: the 63 kWh, if 360 km is enough.
- For snow and towing: the 87 kWh e-4ORCE.
- For performance: the 290 kW e-4ORCE Performance or the Nismo.
Nissan's first mass-market electric car is described in our guide to the Nissan Leaf, the brand's best-selling crossover in the article on the Nissan Qashqai, and the bigger family SUV in the overview of the Nissan X-Trail. All versions are in the Nissan catalogue.
The Nissan Ariya is a battery-electric compact crossover built since January 2022 in Tochigi, Japan, and Wuhan, China. It grew out of the Ariya concept shown at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, which in turn refined the IMx concept of 2017. The Ariya offers 63 or 87 kWh of usable battery capacity, front-wheel drive or the dual-motor e-4ORCE all-wheel drive, and since 2024 a Nismo version. A facelift with a grille-less front was unveiled in Japan on 23 December 2025.

Wikipedia gives acceleration only to 60 mph, so no 0–100 km/h figures are shown. DC charging is limited to 130 kW. The on-board charger has 7.4 kW, and 22 kW in some countries; ADAC lists the German versions with a 22 kW charger.
The Ariya in the test
Autonotizen.de tested the 87 kWh front-wheel-drive car in October 2022. Its test consumption was 16.5 kWh/100 km, below the WLTP value of 18.4 kWh/100 km, and the reviewers considered more than 500 km of range realistic. During fast charging the display peaked at about 100 kW, not the quoted 130 kW, but the car held that level until above 80 percent. The boot measured 468 litres behind the powered tailgate.

Nismo and the 2026 facelift
The Ariya Nismo was introduced on 12 January 2024 at a Tokyo show and reached Europe in July 2024, reviving the Nismo name there after the 370Z Nismo ended in 2019. In Japan it comes as the B6 with 66 kWh and 270 kW (367 PS) and as the B9 with 91 kWh and 320 kW (435 PS), both with e-4ORCE. The Nismo has new bumpers, a front splitter, side skirts, a rear spoiler and red pinstripes.
The facelift was previewed in October 2025, shown at the Japan Mobility Show and unveiled in Japan on 23 December 2025. It has a front without a grille, headlights inspired by the third-generation Leaf, no fog lights and new Google-based infotainment. Because of tariffs, the USA did not receive the facelift. ADAC lists the facelifted Ariya from 2026.
