Biography
Mate Rimac was born on 12 February 1988 in Livno, in what is now Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a teenager he built the iGlove, a glove that replaced the keyboard and mouse. In 2006, at 18, he bought a 1984 BMW E30 323i, and when its engine failed he converted the car to electric power.
In September 2009, aged 21, he founded Rimac Automobili. The Concept One was presented at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show; its successor was introduced in 2018 as the C_Two, later named Nevera, and finished its final development and testing in 2020. Rimac attracted major investment from Porsche, Hyundai and Kia, and in 2013 he also founded the electric-bicycle maker Greyp.
On 2 November 2021 he was announced as chief executive of Bugatti Rimac. He received the Croatian Order of Danica Hrvatska in 2014 and was elected to the US National Academy of Engineering in 2025.
