Tata Motors is an Indian vehicle maker headquartered in Mumbai and part of the Tata Group. It was founded on 1 September 1945 as the Tata Engineering & Locomotive Company (TELCO), at first building locomotives. It bought Daewoo's South Korean truck unit in 2004, and in June 2008 it acquired Jaguar Land Rover from Ford.

Tata's early passenger models were the Sierra of 1991, the Estate of 1992 and the Indica of 1998, the first fully indigenous Indian passenger car. The tiny Nano was unveiled in January 2008 and built from 2009 in Sanand, Gujarat. The current range includes the Tiago of 2016, the Tata Nexon of 2017, the Harrier of 2019 and the Punch of 2021, with electric versions of several models. In October 2025 the company was split: the commercial vehicle business became Tata Motors, and the car business, including Jaguar Land Rover, became Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.
