About Lincoln

The Lincoln Motor Company was founded in 1917 by Henry Leland, who had earlier co-founded Cadillac, to build Liberty aircraft engines. It switched to luxury cars in 1920 and was bought by Ford in 1922.

Lincoln has been Ford's luxury brand ever since, known for the Continental (from 1939), the Town Car, the Mark series, presidential limousines and the Navigator, launched in 1998 as one of the first full-size luxury SUVs. Its current range consists mainly of SUVs – the Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator and Navigator.
