Ariel Motor Company is a small British maker of lightweight performance vehicles based in Crewkerne, Somerset. It was founded in 1991 by Simon Saunders as Solocrest Ltd and took the name Ariel Motor Company in 1999.

The company is best known for the Ariel Atom, an extremely light road car with an exposed tubular frame instead of bodywork and no roof, weighing under 500 kg. The Atom 2 arrived in 2003 and the Atom 3 in 2007; the Atom 4 was announced in July 2018, with deliveries from June 2019. Other Ariel models followed over the years: the Ace motorcycle, announced in June 2014 with a 1,237 cc Honda V4 engine; the Nomad, a road-legal off-road buggy introduced in January 2015; and the HIPERCAR, an electric sports car announced in August 2017. Ariel employs only about 30 staff members and builds up to 100 cars a year. See also Caterham and KTM.
