About AC Cars
AC Cars is one of the oldest independent British car makers. It traces its roots to 1901 and to Autocarriers, a maker of light delivery tricars, and took the AC Cars name in the 1920s; for most of its history the works were at Thames Ditton in Surrey.
AC is best known for the Ace roadster of 1953 and for the Cobra of 1962, created when Carroll Shelby fitted a Ford V8 into the Ace chassis – one of the most copied sports cars ever built. Other notable AC models include the Aceca coupé, the Greyhound and the 428.
