About Roewe
Roewe is a car brand of the Shanghai-based SAIC Motor, launched in 2006. SAIC had bought the designs of the Rover 75 and Rover 25 and the K-series engines but not the Rover name, so it created Roewe; its first model, the Roewe 750, was based on the Rover 75.
Later models include the 550 and 350, the 950, the RX5 SUV of 2016 – developed with Alibaba as an "internet car" – and electric and plug-in hybrid models. SAIC also owns the MG brand.
