Marussia Motors was a sports car company founded in 2007 by Nikolai Fomenko and Andrey Cheglakov to build sports cars of its own.
Its first model, the Marussia B1 sports car, was launched in December 2008, and the Marussia B2, with a more aggressive design, was first shown in 2009. Both cars used Cosworth-built V6 engines: a 2.8-litre turbocharged unit with 360 or 420 hp, or a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre of about 300 hp. A prototype SUV, the F2, was shown in 2010. The same year the company bought a significant stake in the Virgin Racing Formula One team, which was renamed Marussia F1 and raced under that name from 2012 to 2014. The Marussia car company itself was disbanded in 2014, and the Formula One team stopped operating later that year. Read more: the history of Marussia.
