Eagle was an American car brand of the Chrysler Corporation, created in 1988 after Chrysler bought American Motors (AMC) in 1987. The name came from the AMC Eagle, the four-wheel-drive car that AMC had introduced for 1980.
The range included the Premier saloon of 1988–1992, the Medallion of 1989, the Summit of 1989–1996 and the Vista of 1988–1992, sold only in Canada. The Eagle Talon sports coupé of 1990–1998 was built by Diamond-Star Motors in Normal, Illinois, a Chrysler–Mitsubishi joint venture, as a sister of the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Plymouth Laser; the four-wheel-drive TSi AWD had a 2.0-litre turbo engine of 145 kW (195 hp), later 157 kW (210 hp). The last new model was the Vision saloon of 1993–1997. In September 1997 Chrysler announced the end of the brand, and the 1998 Talon was the last Eagle; a planned new Vision was cancelled and became the Chrysler 300M.
