BYD Owners in Germany and Spain Get New Home Charging Bundles
BYD buyers in Germany and Spain can now sign up for home charging bundles from two large energy companies. E.ON launched an offer for BYD drivers in Germany on 2 November, and Iberdrola followed with a Spanish package of wallbox, special tariff and public charging discounts, electrive reported on 4 November.

Key takeaways
- Germany: E.ON pays a bonus of 12 cents for every kWh charged smartly at home, for at least 24 months.
- Spain: Iberdrola sells home electricity to BYD drivers at 0.25 euros per kWh including taxes in 2026.
- Both offers cover BYD electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
- In the UK, BYD has worked with Octopus Energy since summer 2025, including vehicle-to-grid charging.
The E.ON offer in Germany
E.ON Home Charge is open to new and existing BYD customers and works with every fully electric BYD and its plug-in hybrids. Drivers set a departure time and the battery level they need in the Mein E.ON app, and the system decides when to charge. An instant charging mode is available at any time.
For each kWh charged this way at home, E.ON pays a 12-cent bonus for at least 24 months. Its own example assumes 170 kWh a month, which works out at about 20 euros a month, or roughly 490 euros over two years in 2026. BYD drivers who also switch to an E.ON electricity tariff get a one-off bonus of 80 euros in 2026 on top of the usual new-customer bonus. When the partnership was announced in September, it covered only fully electric models; plug-in hybrids are now included.
The Iberdrola package in Spain
Iberdrola calls its offer Plan Recarga Inteligente. Customers who arrange installation through Iberdrola get a wallbox and pay half the market price for fitting, a saving of 969 euros in 2026 according to the company. The tariff costs 0.25 euros per kWh including taxes in 2026, and Iberdrola also discounts the energy needed for 10,000 km of driving a year, for three years.
Public charging is part of the deal too. Drivers get 50 per cent off at selected Iberdrola Espana stations for six months, followed by 12 months of free Plan Recarga + membership. That membership normally costs 9.99 euros a month in 2026 and takes 20 per cent off each session. Iberdrola says its public network has more than 12,000 working charging points.
Bidirectional charging comes later
Vehicle-to-grid charging is not part of either new deal. BYD and E.ON say they plan to add it and to take the cooperation to other European markets, but they have given no timing or list of compatible models. British BYD owners already have that option through the Octopus Energy bundle.
What it means for you
If you are buying a BYD in Germany, the E.ON bonus pays off only when most of your charging happens at home through the app, so drivers who rely on public chargers gain little. In Spain the biggest saving is the subsidised wallbox installation, followed by three years of cheaper home energy. In both countries, compare the package with your current tariff before switching, because the real saving depends on how many kWh you charge at home.
