Mercedes-AMG GT SUV: AMG's First In-House Electric SUV Gets up to 860 kW
Mercedes-AMG has revealed the GT SUV, its first large SUV developed entirely in Affalterbach and the second model on the 800-volt AMG.EA electric platform. The range starts with the GT 53 at 400 kW (544 PS) and tops out with the GT 63 at up to 860 kW (1,169 PS).

Key takeaways
- Three versions: GT 53 with 400 kW (544 PS), GT 55 with 600 kW (816 PS) and GT 63 with up to 860 kW (1,169 PS).
- Batteries of 106 kWh or 128 kWh usable capacity, charging at up to 600 kW or 710 kW DC.
- Up to 700 km WLTP range with the larger battery; up to 450 km can be added in 10 minutes.
- Orders for the GT 53 opened in Europe on 20 October 2026; the GT 55 and GT 63 follow in spring 2027.
Three versions, two battery sizes
The GT 53 uses two permanent-magnet synchronous motors, one on each axle, and a two-speed gearbox at the rear. The GT 55 and GT 63 get three motors with axial-flux technology: two in a single rear unit and a front booster motor that disconnects under light loads.
| Parameter | GT 53 | GT 55 | GT 63 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power | 400 kW (544 PS) | 600 kW (816 PS) | Up to 860 kW (1,169 PS) |
| Torque | 800 Nm | 1,860 Nm | Up to 2,000 Nm |
| Battery (usable) | 106 kWh | 106 or 128 kWh | 106 or 128 kWh |
| 0-100 km/h | 4.2 s | 3.1 s | Under 3 s |
| Top speed | 250 km/h | 270 km/h (Driver's Package) | 270 km/h (Driver's Package) |
| WLTP range | 597 to 668 km | Up to 700 km (128 kWh) | Up to 700 km (128 kWh) |
The battery uses cylindrical cells cooled directly by a non-conductive oil. The 106 kWh pack has 18 modules and the 128 kWh pack has 22.
Charging at up to 710 kW
With the 106 kWh battery the GT SUV charges at up to 600 kW DC; with the 128 kWh battery the peak rises to 710 kW. Mercedes-AMG quotes 10 to 80 % in 11 or 12 minutes depending on the battery. On older 400-volt chargers the system switches its operating voltage down. AC charging is limited to 11 kW on all versions.
Chargers that deliver more than 600 kW are still rare in Europe, so most owners will see lower peaks on the road. At home, an 11 kW wallbox is the useful maximum.
Prices and launch
The GT 53 opened for orders in Europe on 20 October 2026, with prices from €113,050 in 2026, as reported by TimesLIVE and the German trade title Autohaus. Mercedes-AMG has not yet given prices for the GT 55 and GT 63, which follow in spring 2027. The car is built at the Sindelfingen plant in Germany.
The GT SUV is AMG's entry into the class of large electric performance SUVs. See our Mercedes-Benz catalogue and the EQS for the brand's current electric models.
