Before Togg: the Devrim of 1961
Turkey had tried to build a car of its own once before. In 1961 engineers in Eskişehir, at the workshop that later became the TÜLOMSAŞ railway factory, built four prototypes of the Devrim, whose name means "revolution", in about 130 days for the Republic Day celebrations of 29 October. It was the first car designed and produced in Turkey, but it never went into series production; one of the four survives at TÜLOMSAŞ.
Founding: the 2018 joint venture
The modern project began in November 2017, when President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced the group of companies that would develop electric cars in Turkey. Togg was launched on 25 June 2018. Anadolu Group, BMC, Kök Group, Turkcell and Zorlu Holding each held 19%, and TOBB, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, held 5%. In September 2019 it was reported that Kök Group would leave the project, and later the remaining partners raised the capital from ₺150 million to almost ₺1 billion.
In October 2019 the head office moved from Şişli in Istanbul to Gebze in Kocaeli. CEO Gürcan Karakaş said then that the designs of an SUV and a saloon would be finished that year and sales were planned for 2022. In August 2020 the company decided to sell its cars under the Togg brand itself.

Design and the Gemlik plant
On 27 December 2019 Togg presented its SUV and saloon prototypes at a press conference. The bodies were designed by Murat Günak and Pininfarina. The platform was first planned on the basis of the Saab 9-3 Phoenix architecture that NEVS had acquired, but Togg later developed a new platform for the car.
Construction of the factory in Gemlik, Bursa, began on 21 May 2020, with a budget of ₺22 billion (about US$1.2 billion in 2020) and state aid for the project. The international debut came at CES 2022 in Las Vegas on 5 January 2022. The plant opened on 29 October 2022, the anniversary of the Turkish Republic, and about 4,323 jobs were planned there. Mass production of the T10X began the same month. For batteries Togg formed Siro, a 50/50 joint venture with the battery cell maker Farasis of China.

The T10X electric SUV
The Togg T10X is a C-segment SUV. Sales began in March 2023 and deliveries in April. The rear-wheel-drive version has 160 kW (218 PS) and 350 Nm; the all-wheel-drive version, with a motor on each axle, has 320 kW (435 PS) and 700 Nm and reaches 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. Two NMC battery sizes with Farasis cells are offered: 52.4 kWh for a WLTP range of 314 km and 88.5 kWh for 523 km. DC charging runs at up to 180 kW, from 20 to 80% in 28 minutes.
Both batteries work out at about 6.0 km of WLTP range per kWh, a figure that can be set against other electric cars in the EV range and battery data. Sales in Turkey rose from 19,583 in 2023 to 30,093 in 2024 and 39,020 in 2025, when electric cars reached nearly 18% of new car sales in the country.
In September 2025 Euro NCAP gave the T10X five stars, with 94% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupants, 79% for vulnerable road users and 80% for safety assist. Euro NCAP called it remarkable that a new entrant had earned five stars for its first two cars. Other results are collected in the car safety section.

The T10F and the move to Europe
The T10F fastback saloon was unveiled at CES on 9 January 2024 and entered production in 2025. It uses the same batteries and power outputs as the T10X: 160 kW with one motor and 320 kW with two. With the 88.5 kWh battery its WLTP range is 623 km, about 100 km more than the SUV; with the 52.4 kWh battery the range is about 350 km.
Togg plans five models by 2030. After the T10X and T10F, the list includes the T8CX coupé-SUV, the T8X B-segment SUV and the 10V MPV. The company describes itself as both a car maker and a technology brand, with services linking its cars to homes, city infrastructure and mobility. It aims to export one million electric cars to European markets by the end of the decade. Togg models are listed in the Togg catalogue.
