TVR is a British sports car maker founded in Blackpool in 1946–1947 by Trevor Wilkinson; the name comes from the letters of his first name.
Peter Wheeler took control in December 1981 and moved the range towards large V8 engines. The S Series of 1986 was followed by the Chimaera, the TVR Griffith, the Cerbera, the Tuscan and the Sagaris. Wheeler sold the company in July 2004, and in December 2006 the Blackpool manufacturing business went into administration. In 2013 a group led by Les Edgar took over the brand. It presented a new Griffith, designed with Gordon Murray and powered by a Cosworth-modified Ford V8, at the Goodwood Revival on 8 September 2017, and announced a factory in Ebbw Vale, Wales, but lost its exclusive rights to that site in December 2023. In November 2025 Charge Holdings was reported to have bought TVR with plans to revive it. See also Gordon Murray Automotive.
