Duesenberg was an American maker of racing and luxury cars founded by the brothers Fred and August Duesenberg. Their first company, Duesenberg Motors, was set up in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1913, and in 1920 they founded Duesenberg Automobile & Motors Company in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Racing made the name. In 1921 Jimmy Murphy won the French Grand Prix in a Duesenberg, the first win for an American car in that race, and Duesenbergs won the Indianapolis 500 in 1922, 1924, 1925 and 1927. The first production road car, the Model A, was introduced in 1921, with deliveries from December. In 1926 Errett Lobban Cord, owner of Auburn, acquired the company, which then created the Duesenberg Model J, first delivered to customers in 1929, followed in 1932 by the supercharged SJ. In 1937 Duesenberg was sold and dissolved, and the marque disappeared together with Auburn and Cord. See also Auburn and Cord.
