About Abarth
Abarth was founded in Turin in 1949 by Carlo Abarth, an Austrian-born engineer and racing driver. The company made its name with performance exhausts and tuning kits, and above all with small, fast cars based on Fiat models that won class victories in racing and rallying through the 1950s and 1960s. The scorpion badge is Carlo Abarth's star sign.
Fiat bought Abarth in 1971, and for decades the name marked Fiat's sporting and rally versions. In 2007 Abarth was relaunched as a brand of its own, best known for hot versions of the Fiat 500 – the 595 and 695 – and more recently for the electric Abarth 500e.
