XPeng L05: What to Expect From the Mid-Size SUV Due in Europe in 2027

XPeng will bring its L05 mid-size SUV to Germany in early 2027 and will reveal European prices, equipment and powertrains at the Brussels Motor Show, held from 8 to 17 January 2027. Electrive reported the plan on 2 November, and Auto Express confirmed on 4 November that the car is also coming to the UK. In China the L05 starts at 144,800 yuan, about 19,400 euros in 2026.

Key takeaways

  • 4.87-metre SUV with a 2.94-metre wheelbase and a 702-litre boot.
  • In China: 183 kW (245 PS) rear motor, 58.2 or 71.1 kWh LFP battery, 535-635 km on the CLTC cycle.
  • Range-extender version in China; XPeng has not said if it comes to Europe.
  • European prices and specifications due in January 2027.

Size and space

The L05, sold in China as the Mona L05, measures 4,870 mm long, 1,930 mm wide and 1,640 mm tall. It is slightly longer than the XPeng G6, which is already on sale in Europe. The boot holds 702 litres, rising to 1,913 litres with the rear seats folded, and the electric version adds a 102-litre front boot. XPeng counts 41 storage spaces, including a 6-litre compartment in the centre tunnel and a 10-litre box for rear passengers.

Batteries, motors and range in China

The fully electric L05 uses a single 183 kW (245 PS) motor on the rear axle and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries of 58.2 or 71.1 kWh. China's CLTC cycle rates the range at 535 to 635 km, and Auto Express notes that CLTC is more lenient than the European WLTP test, so official European figures should come out lower.

The range-extender model keeps the 183 kW motor but uses a 37.2 kWh LFP battery and a 1.5-litre petrol engine that only works as a generator. It covers 310 km on electricity, with a combined range of up to 1,310 km. XPeng has not published charging speeds for either version.

Cabin and driver assistance

There is no conventional instrument cluster. The driver reads speed and navigation from a 26.8-inch head-up display, and a 17.3-inch touchscreen sits in the centre, with a second 17.3-inch screen for rear passengers on higher trims. The front seats have a massage function. XPeng uses its own Turing chips for driver assistance, one in the Max trim and two in the top Ultra SE, and compares the system with Tesla's FSD, a claim that has not been independently tested.

What it means for buyers

The L05 will sit above the G6 in XPeng's European range and come close to the G9 in size. Its key figures for Europe, WLTP range, charging power and price, will only be known in January, so anyone weighing it against a Skoda Enyaq or Tesla Model Y should wait for the Brussels announcement before committing.
