New Eugendorf Hub Charges Cars, Trucks and Motorhomes at up to 600 kW
Austrian utility Salzburg AG has opened its largest charging park so far, at the Wallersee exit of the A1 Westautobahn in Eugendorf. The site has eight fast-charging points with a combined capacity of up to 1.4 MW and two bays for electric trucks and motorhomes, electrive reported on 3 November.

Key takeaways
- Six charging points deliver up to 480 kW and two deliver up to 600 kW.
- The hardware is Alpitronic's HYC1000 Hypercharger, backed by two M-TEC battery storage units.
- Two drive-through bays take trucks, motorhomes and cars towing caravans.
- Construction took about four months.
The site and its hardware
The hub sits directly at a motorway exit on the A1, one of Austria's main east-west routes. Salzburg AG chose Alpitronic's HYC1000 Hypercharger, which uses slim charging columns with the power electronics housed in separate cabinets nearby. Two battery storage units from M-TEC are installed on site, which electrive takes as a sign that the system is battery-buffered, drawing energy from storage at peak times instead of relying only on the grid connection.
The numbers explain how the power is shared. Six points at 480 kW and two at 600 kW add up to more than 4 MW on paper, while the whole site is rated at up to 1.4 MW. When all eight points are busy, each car or truck gets about 175 kW on average, and a single vehicle on its own can draw much more.
Room for trucks and motorhomes
Two bays are laid out as drive-through spaces, so long vehicles do not need to reverse or unhitch. That suits electric trucks as well as motorhomes and cars towing caravans.
Michael Baminger, chairman of the Salzburg AG management board, said the hub brings strong capacity to a busy location and supports growing demand for electric mobility in the state of Salzburg. He added that the company invested about 6 million euros in public charging infrastructure in 2026.
Prices not yet published
Salzburg AG has not published charging prices for the Eugendorf site. Until a tariff appears, drivers should check the price on the charger display or in their charging app before plugging in.
What it means for you
If you drive through Austria on the A1, the Eugendorf hub adds a high-power stop with enough points that queues should be short outside holiday peaks. The drive-through bays are the main advantage for anyone towing a caravan with an electric car, because you can charge without unhitching. Most cars cannot use 480 kW anyway, so the shared 1.4 MW supply should still give typical EVs close to their maximum charging speed.
