Fiat Topolino Dolcevita Brings a Fabric Roof to the UK Range

Fiat has added the Topolino Dolcevita to its UK range, an open-top version of its small electric two-seater priced at £9,495 in 2026, £500 more than the standard car. Auto Express and Top Gear reported the launch on 3 November. Orders are open through selected Fiat retailers, and Auto Express says the first cars will arrive in 2027.

Key takeaways

  • £9,495 in 2026, about 11,300 euros, and £500 above the regular Topolino.
  • Fabric roof that rolls back, previously offered only on special editions.
  • Unchanged mechanicals: 6 kW (8 bhp) motor, 5.4 kWh battery, 74 km (46 miles) of range.
  • Top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph); legally it is a quadricycle.

What the Dolcevita adds

The only change is the roof. Earlier special editions of the Topolino already used a fabric top, and the Dolcevita now makes it available in the regular line-up. Fiat has not explained how it works. From the official images, Auto Express concluded that the fabric rolls back and is held with straps, similar to the Citroen Ami Buggy, which shares its basic structure with the Topolino. The opening is small, so the effect is closer to a large sunroof than a true convertible.

Same small electric drivetrain

Under the body the Dolcevita is identical to the standard Topolino. The 6 kW (8 bhp) motor draws from a 5.4 kWh battery for a range of 74 km (46 miles), and top speed is limited to 45 km/h (28 mph). Charging is capped at 2.3 kW, which means about four hours from empty. Top Gear describes the Topolino as a compact electric quadricycle, a vehicle class with lighter technical rules than a normal passenger car, and its earlier test called the car desperately slow.

The standard Topolino went on sale in Britain in July 2026, and the first deliveries began around the time of the Dolcevita announcement.

Who it suits

The Topolino is designed for short city trips, where its tiny footprint makes parking easy and 45 km/h is rarely a limit. Outside town it struggles: the speed cap rules out faster roads, and the range covers a day of errands rather than a commute between towns. Auto Express suggested a used Fiat 500e Convertible to anyone who needs more speed or range for similar money.

What it means for you

At £9,495 in 2026 the Dolcevita is one of the cheapest ways into an open-top electric vehicle in the UK, but it remains a city runabout with car-like looks. If you only drive in congested centres and can charge from a home socket overnight, the extra £500 buys fresh air on sunny days. Anyone who regularly leaves town should look at a full-size small EV instead.
