VinFast is a Vietnamese car maker founded in 2017 as the automotive subsidiary of Vingroup, the conglomerate chaired by Phạm Nhật Vượng. Construction of its factory at Cát Hải, Hai Phong, began in September 2017.

The first models were the LUX A2.0 saloon and LUX SA2.0 SUV, based on BMW platforms, and the Fadil, a small car derived from the Opel Karl and built under a General Motors licence; they were produced from 2019 to 2022. In December 2021 VinFast delivered its first electric crossover, the VF e34, and in 2022 it announced it would stop building combustion-engined cars and focus only on electric vehicles. The VinFast VF 8 and the larger VF 9 SUVs launched that year, followed in 2024–2025 by the VF 3, VF 5, VF 6 and VF 7. VinFast shares began trading on Nasdaq on 15 August 2023. It has since expanded into Indonesia, the Philippines and India. See also Togg.
