Fisker Inc. was an American electric car company founded in 2016 by the designer Henrik Fisker and Geeta Gupta-Fisker and based in Los Angeles, California. Henrik Fisker had earlier created Fisker Automotive, founded in 2007 with Bernhard Koehler, which built the Karma plug-in hybrid saloon.
The Fisker Karma debuted in 2008 and reached its first customers in 2011, but production was suspended in 2012 after its battery supplier, A123 Systems, went bankrupt, and the Wanxiang Group bought the company's assets in 2014. The second company, Fisker Inc., was announced on 3 October 2016 as a completely new business. Its only series-production model was the Fisker Ocean, an electric SUV released in 2023 and built in Austria by the contract manufacturer Magna Steyr. On 17 June 2024 Fisker Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in Delaware. Henrik Fisker also designed cars for other brands, such as the Artega GT.
