Peugeot Partner is a front-wheel drive universal vehicle that is available in 2 main bodywork variants: all-metal van and compact van. This vehicle can be used both for commercial purposes (cargo execution) and for family needs (passenger and cargo modification) – in any case, without fear of active daily use.
The serial “career” of the given vehicle has begun in the summer of 1996, but the full-scale presentation has passed only in the autumn in the same year. Machines similar to the Peugeot Partner have been produced for a long time. In the Soviet Union there was a similar car – IJ 2715. But the French model stood out from all analogues by a significant feature. Almost all other vehicles were three-volume with a clearly marked cabin (often 2-seater), had all-metal cargo and engine departments.
But Peugeot Partner decided to build a different type of cabin, linking the cargo area and cabin (they were separated only by a grid). Despite this unusual layout, the consumer quickly fell in love with it.
Peugeot Partner I generation (1996-2008)
For the first time Peugeot Partner I was presented back in 1996. At that time, the automotive market already had such “machines”. Along with the appearance of Peugeot, the first version of Citroën Berlingo, which was a “twin brother” of the car, was released. The cars differed only in the finish, dashboard and badges. If we take the rest of the parameters, the two cars repeated each other.
The Peugeot version was produced at the Argentine, Spanish and Portuguese factories, and the Italian market can buy a car under the name Peugeot Ranch. The Frenchman was a classic cokepack van with a small nose area and cargo compartment. The appearance of the “heel” turned out to be modest.
It is possible to allocate presence of compact headlights of the extended form, a massive hood and a label of the company. Inside could accommodate 5 adults, and the stern area allowed to transport up to 3 cubes of luggage. Restyling touched bumpers, rear lights, headlights, radiator grilles and interior decoration. The main detail of the nose area was a clearly identified “kangaroo” bumper, which was painted in body color (on expensive models). The headlamps grew in size and look more massive, and they were combined with lighting devices (turn signals, parking lights, high and low beam headlamps) into one unit.
The appearance of Peugeot Partner of the 1st generation of restyling is completed by the presence of large mirror and wing bodies. Since the “refreshed” version of the universal car was released, it was able to interest even more potential customers.
The restyled version received a large number of advanced devices. The car has special windscreen wipers, modernized power steering and other progressive innovations. If you compare the previous car with the upgraded version, it was much better, especially in terms of equipment. The basic version had front (driver’s and passenger) airbags.
Cargo version provides only a two-seater cabin and cargo area, the volume of 3 cubic meters. All other variants have a luggage compartment with a capacity of 624-664 liters. The interior of the car has a large number of different compartments for change and can please the space.

When 2006 came, the French specialists developed a 1.6-liter turbo diesel engine HDi, producing 75 and 90 horsepower. This unit was developed by the employees of Citroen, Peugeot and Ford. Production of the first generation was continued at Turkish enterprises, from which vehicles were sold to other countries.
Peugeot Partner II Generation (2008-present)
When 2008 came, many motorists were already waiting for the second generation of Peugeot Partner to appear. The novelty again received a “double” in the form of Citroën Berlingo MK2. The cargo-and-passenger version of Peugeot Partner, which was named “Tipi”, was officially demonstrated for the first time at the beginning of 2008, and the “full-scale” presentation was held in the spring of the same year in time with the already familiar Geneva Automobile Event.
The truck version received the VU index. If we compare the model with the previous generation, Peugeot Partner Tipi has changed dramatically. The changes have affected the appearance, the interior and the technical “stuffing”. With the advent of February 2012, the French car went through its first restyling, which was limited only to cosmetic improvements.
Already in 2015, the practical five-door Peugeot Partner Tepee passed the second wave of modernization, which became more serious. The car was decided to adjust its appearance, make some changes to the interior decoration, allocate new diesel engines and expand the list of available equipment.
The second family was a full-fledged new car, which was based on one “cart” with its “relatives” Peugeot 308 and Citroen C4. On the outside, the car remains a fully recognizable vehicle, but will inherit a modified front end. The novelty was presented at the end of 2017, and it will be sold this year.
The French company has always been known for its own creative ideas, which concerned the appearance. Proceeding from this, the exterior of Peugeot Partner Tepee turned out to be quite memorable – there is a smiling contour of the front end, triangular headlights and a big bumper with a silver insert.
The hood of the car is flat and small enough, which causes a little awkwardness during maintenance. But it is significantly covered with massive windshield. As for visibility, the French “heel” is just gorgeous, and it is based on the feedback from the owners of the model. Compaktwen received a black roof with rails, and optionally you can install a panoramic roof.
After restyling, which was carried out by specialists of the French company, the updated car looked much better. The workers managed to slightly change the shape of the optics, bumper and add a more relief hood. The radiator grille now looked more pronounced and received a chrome edging. Above the “fog lights”, which have become more compact, is a popular today’s line of daytime running lights filled with LEDs.
The desire of the Machine Partner Tipi for adventure is mainly manifested in the Outdoor design. It features a black, unpainted front bumper that emphasizes the strength and confidence of the vehicle. The five-door bumper makes it seem as if it calls for a long journey on any road. The ground clearance height is 141 millimetres.
To get inside Peugeot Partner Tepee is allowed practically from any side. Side sliding doors allow you to open the doorway to the full width of the vehicle, which greatly simplifies boarding and disembarkation. The salon of the debut and the second version of the “Frenchman” almost did not stand out. This is explained by the fact that before the release of the new model, she survived the restyling, and her salon became more relevant. If we talk for the front console Peugeot Partner 2 generation, it has become more fresh. Part of this has been achieved through the introduction of a 7-inch colour screen, which also supports touch input.

The Russian market can be offered by Peugeot Tipia’s partner with a pair of four-cylinder power units. The first is the gasoline 4-cylinder 1.6-liter EP6C engine, which has a distributed injection system, variable gas distribution phases and a sixteen-valve gas distribution mechanism. As a result, the motor develops 120 “horses” at 6,000 rpm and 160 Nm of rotational force at 4250 rpm.
The gasoline version consumes about 7.1 litres for every 100 kilometres. Next comes a 1.6-liter DV6DTED diesel engine with turbocharged compressor, battery-powered Common Rail injection and an eight-valve gas distribution system. All this produces 92 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 230 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm. The diesel version requires about 5.7 litres of fuel per hundred kilometres.
The Peugeot Partner engine is paired with a manual five- and six-speed gearbox and a 6-range automatic transmission that delivers all the torque only to the front wheels. Based on the technical characteristics of Peugeot Partner, the car can accelerate up to 161-177 kilometers per hour, and reach the first hundred in 11.9-14.3 seconds (depending on what performance).
As the basis for the second version of Peugeot Partner Tipi, the PSA PF2 front-drive “trolley” was used, which uses a steel body and a transversely mounted powertrain. The front axle of the French machine uses an independent suspension type McPherson, and the rear – semi-independent lever structure. In addition, the stern is provided with a deformable girder (“in a circle”, with transverse stability stabilizers).
The vehicle has a river-type steering system and power steering. All wheels are equipped with disc brakes, which are still ventilated in front (283 millimeters), and the rear are standard discs (268 millimeters). All this is complemented by ABS and EBD electronic systems.
The updated Peugeot Partner Tipi’s up-to-date technical means provide safety to the driver and passengers. Immediately worth mentioning is the rear video camera, which starts automatically when the rear speed is turned on. With the help of this camera, the owner visualises the vehicle’s trajectory on the colour display supporting the touch screen input, as well as makes manoeuvres more safely.
In addition, there is a front and rear parktronic, which the experts of the French company installed on both bumpers. They provide the opportunity to notice the invisible from the driver’s seat interference in the way of the car during maneuvers in the parking lot.
This equipment can be combined with a rear camera, which only makes parking easier. The automatic braking system and cruise control are not forgotten. It is able to briefly hold the brakes of the machine when the owner tends to move from the 1st or rear gear. It turns out that the car owner has some time in reserve to move his foot from the brake to the “gas”. The car is equipped with a system (ESP) which manages to keep under control the insufficient or excessive turnability of the “heel” during the turn and to take the necessary actions to save the car in a given direction.
They have not forgotten to install an anti-skid system in the new model, which by adjusting the traction force of the power plant and braking some wheels, provides control over the machine in bad road conditions. The cruise control system allows the driver to be on a constant speed mode without the need to additionally “gas”.
And the speed limiter allows you to specify a maximum speed limit, which the car will not be able to accelerate even if the car owner presses the “gas”. Also, in order to increase the level of safety and visibility on the road, experts were able to equip the nose “foggers” with the function of lighting the internal radius of the turn, when the car moves at a speed of up to 40 kilometers per hour.
Such a system of additional lighting is very necessary when driving in the city limits, crossing intersections and when maneuvering in the parking lot. As standard, the Peugeot Partner Tipi has four airbags, three-point seat belts in the front and rear seats, and ISOFIX child restraints for the rear row.
I am very pleased that in order to increase the level of safety, the design of the vehicle has been decided to be improved more thoroughly. Now the car has:
- Programmed deformation zones that more effectively dampen the impact;
- A steering column that is allocated from the driver in the crash to reduce the chance of injury;
- Strong load-bearing elements that preserve the vital space inside the vehicle during a coup;
- A modified front of the car that minimizes the risk of injury to a pedestrian when struck by a pedestrian.
Although crash-tests of Peugeot Partner Tepee have not been carried out by the European company EuroNCAP yet, but the same French model – Citroen Berlingo – has been successfully tested. It managed to score 26 points, which corresponds to 4 stars.

The Russian market offers the 2018 model in 3 versions – “Active”, “Outdoor” and “Allure”. If the buyer wants to buy a vehicle with a diesel engine, he will have to pay at least $22576,60. The “top” version of the compact van is estimated at $22765,00.

Summing up, I would like to say that the French were able to “correctly” improve Peugeot Partner. Sometimes it happens that modernization only scares off potential customers, but with this case it did not happen. The appearance of the new product has become more fresh, modern and even stylish. Despite its spaciousness, the car does not seem huge.
The presence of side doors, which can be opened easily even in a narrow parking lot, only simplifies boarding and disembarkation of passengers. French experts have not forgotten to equip their cars with chrome parts and daytime running lights, which is popular today. The rear of the vehicle looks simple, but practical.
Here you can find pleasant rear lamps on the designer’s side and solid glass luggage compartment doors. Railings on the roof show that the “heel” is designed to carry small luggage and on the roof. Entering the Peugeot Partner Tipi salon, pleasant emotions do not go away. There is a pleasant and practical interior, conveniently located controls and dashboard.
Although not the most comfortable seats, they allow you to feel comfortable. The visibility does not limp, partly due to external rear-view mirrors. An airbag is provided for the driver and front passenger. The central console has a touchscreen display that allows you to control many elements of the car.
The rear row can accommodate three adult passengers who will not feel uncomfortable above the head and in the legs. The luggage compartment is very “rich”, so the car can be used for a variety of purposes. There is a full spare wheel. The open lid of the boot can protect it when it rains. Power units, though not the most powerful, but provide the necessary power, which is enough in the city limits.
However, the engine is not enough when driving to the country road. Car owners will be pleased with a small consumption of fuel, which will be very useful for urban travel. A little bit of tension may be caused by low ground clearance, but this is not a significant drawback. The car company Peugeot has not forgotten about safety, having strengthened the car and equipped it with all necessary safety elements and various electronic assistants.
