History and characteristics of MAZ-6312. Detailed description of the truck data in the tables. Is it practical for Minsk Automobile Building Plant to use a large number of trucks? And can this model direct the position for the better, allowing unification? The whole model range is MAZ.
Car history
A modern all-in-one chassis with a wide range of applications in various fields. It is about MAZ-6312, which is most popular as a tent van, refueling truck, multi-lift and tanker. But the most popular of all modules was, of course, the tent truck. Optionally, the truck can be equipped with special mechanisms for more convenient work. MAZ-6312 is considered to be a good option for long-distance transportation, as it can be equipped with different types of bodies, from freezer to grain carrier.
The model is often equipped as a road train, which increases the practicality and efficiency of the car. The modern cab is well equipped, and this is not the last factor in the drivers’ evaluation of this truck. A separate version of MAZ-6312 has been developed for tropical climate. During the manufacturing process, much attention was paid to the quality of assembly elements. This truck boasts a dozen of reliability and excellent endurance of its spare parts, both in the mechanical part and in the body.
Cabin and body
A modern driver’s workplace is equipped with everything you need. In general, the cabin is equipped with such elements as splash protection, self-contained air-type furnace, radio and air conditioning. Among the special conveniences in the cabin we would like to note the presence of comfortable seats, which are also heated. Adjustment of seats is made, as usual, in three modes: height, outreach and angle of inclination of the back. The basic equipment of MAZ-6312 already has a system of seats amortization.
Despite the large size of the vehicle, its operation and manoeuvring are reduced to a minimum of labor costs. This may be due in part to the power steering and other systems that make life easier for both the driver and the maintenance technician. The space inside the cab allows you to feel comfortable inside both the driver and the passengers. In addition to the space of the cabin itself, there are quite large beds, which, incidentally, are available in two.
The dashboard is positioned so that the driver does not have to stretch. The function buttons are located on the panel to the right of the driver under the torpedo. The problem of many of its predecessors has also been solved – noise insulation. In MAZ-6312 it becomes immediately apparent that the cabin is well insulated not only from noise, but also designed to protect against dust, moisture and thermal factors.
Also available in the truck:
- Brake system with ABS;
- ASR – anti-skidding system;
- Control system for board and axle loads;
- Cruise control;
- Mirrors with electric drive;
- Digital tomography and voltage converter.
The body can be of different kinds. Isometric platforms are used to transport products that are not adapted to high temperatures. Various types of containers can also be transported thanks to the open platform. The body structure of the channel and metal sheets is designed for the transport of grain. The only complaint is the high loading height, which creates certain inconveniences. The designers have to pay tribute to this. The appearance is minimalistic and dignified, which makes the Belarusian MAZ look like a European truck.
Specifications
The systems on the car are modern. The manufacturer, having more than fifty years of experience in the creation of trucks, has taken into account all the necessary factors, which eventually gives us to see the excellent characteristics. Taking into account the thrust of the Minsk Automobile Building Plant to modifications, the model “6312” also did not do without it. In this regard, we will highlight three main ones and consider them in the tables.

Although the maximum speed can reach 100 km/h even at full load, the trucks are often equipped with speed limiters up to 80 km/h.

The engine fuel consumption in this line is used to estimate the technical condition of the vehicle. Otherwise, the data may have minor deviations. The engine YaMZ-6511.10 is much more practical than its counterparts. This applies not only to the increased power, but also to the higher ecological class of Euro-3.
MAZ-6312 has many systems requiring hydraulic filling. They include them:
- Engine lubrication system – 32 l;
- Cooling system – 48-50 l;
- Gearchanging gearbox – 7.5 l;
- Major gear charter, middle axle and rear axle – 13 l (per mechanism);
- Rail booster – 6.5 l;
- Hydraulic platform lifting system – 65 l;
- Wash tank – 10 l;
- Cab suspension system – 0.75 l;
- Cardboard transfer case – 4.5 l.
The control system uses four wheels, which gives the truck additional maneuverability.
Pluses and minuses
As mentioned earlier, the main advantage is the versatility of the MAZ-6312 chassis. Moreover, the ergonomic bar has become much higher, which has significantly improved the feedback from drivers.
Major advantages:
- Opportunity to quickly load and deliver heavy loads with just one unit of equipment.
- High work speed – no more than 60 minutes for loading (unloading) operation.
- They can be easily reoriented to work in different areas, which is very convenient for companies with seasonal changes of activity and for farms offering transport services. A special modification has even been developed for tropical climates.
- Capable of being used for a variety of body types, from platforms and containers to various tanks and even huts.
Multilift upgrades are able to perform all the functions for loading and unloading the module automatically. All functional controls of this process are located in the cabin.
Despite the fact that the cabin is much higher than its predecessors, this part still remains a weak point in the truck line. Of course, any system can be improved to infinity, which means that nothing is perfect.
We sum up
You can buy such a truck with mileage in very good condition. Mainly the price depends on the filling of MAZ-6312 and the type of working systems. In the end, the Minsk plant can count about 350 different modifications. This suggests the idea of unification.
This model demonstrates that a single chassis can carry multiple modules without the need to develop tweaked upgrades. Progress is moving and it is nice to see that domestic enterprises are growing together with it, and MAZ occupies among them not the least place.
