The Ferrari 812 Superfast is a two-seat supercar from Maranello with a front-engine layout and rear-wheel drive transmission. The novelty has a mind-blowing design and a powerful powertrain. In addition to this, it is the most powerful and fastest mass-market car (not taking into account limited-edition hypercars like LaFerrari).
The novelty was first shown to the public at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The Italian company released a two-seat supercar as a replacement for the F12 berlinetta. At the beginning, the novelty was even wanted to be called F12 M. They decided to take the best from the last model, and add something new. And in September 2019, the Italians introduced a new model in the roadster body, the Ferrari 812 GTS. The whole model range is Ferrari.

The introduced Ferrari 812 Superfast car is the result of a deep upgrade of the Ferrari F12berlinetta and the “explosive” F12tdf supercars. The novelty has absorbed the best features from the two cars, which foreshadowed success already from the start of the release. According to the company’s management, a special division “Ferrari StylingCentre” was responsible for development of the Ferrari 812 Superfast. It influenced the simply stunning appearance.
Thus, the specialists of the Italian division managed to keep the traditional proportions of a classic sports coupe with the front-wheel-drive location of the power unit. The front part received a spectacular relief hood, aggressive LED headlights and stylish front bumper. The latter has also received a huge air intake and a splitter.
The sporty, modern and simultaneously stylish design of the Ferrari 812 Superfast will not leave anyone indifferent.
The side part of the Italian supercar completely corresponds to the meaning of a sports coupe having rear drive – extended hood, shifted to the back part of the cabin, and also impetuous notches on the side parts. In addition to this, the manufacturer has equipped its car with 20-inch light alloy wheels with original design and tires from the famous company Michelin.
You can also choose from 6 designs of “rollers”. The ground clearance height is only 80 millimeters. At the rear, the design department was guided by the legendary Ferrari GTB4 of 1969. As a result, the front end is distinguished by spectacular twin lights, a huge bumper, which received a powerful sports diffuser and dual “barrels” of the exhaust system.
Like many other sports cars, the “Italian” can offer a rich list of body colors (more than 20 variants). This also includes the exclusive Rosso Settanta color, which was specially developed for the 70th anniversary of Ferrari.
The interior of the Ferrari 812, traditionally, stands out for its minimalist style, which perfectly characterizes the style of the company itself. Inside, there are two seats provided. You can sit comfortably thanks to the two sport scoops that have leather paneling and excellent side support. However, there is no reason to expect the Ferrari 812 sports coupe to have a lot of comfort and space, as the car is oriented first of all at high-speed driving.
Immediately in front of the driver there is a leather 3-spoke steering wheel, designed in the same solution as the other cars of the Italian company. The steering wheel is equipped with buttons for turn signals, headlights, engine start, adjustment of power plant modes and even windshield wipers. “The dashboard boasts a massive analog tachometer placed in the middle, which has an electronic speedometer sensor.
On the sides of it there is room for small screens, which display various useful information about the vehicle. The entire panel of the torpedo is dominated by leather, which has red stitching. As for the leather, it is of the highest quality. The central console has two round holes of the ventilation system, and below placed a compact control unit “climate”.
There is a puck above it, which allows controlling the multimedia center. A small screen of the entertainment center for some reason is placed in front of the passenger, which can not be called the most convenient solution. There is a stylish partition on the tunnel, equipped with buttons to control modes of transmission. Behind it there is a place for a small niche for small items.
The tunnel is additionally equipped with an electronic Handbrake button, as well as an additional compartment for small items. The entire interior is designed in such a way that the driver of the Ferrari 812 Superfast sports car is not distracted by anything but the road.
The technical part
Under the hood of the Ferrari 812 is equipped with an atmospheric petrol V 12-cylinder 6.5-liter engine, which got “formulaic” valve tappets, direct petrol injection at 350 bar, variable geometry intake manifold and 48 valves. As a result, the In generates 800 “horses” (718 Nm).
Interestingly, already at 3,500 rpm, 80 percent of the torque is available. In the combined cycle the engine consumes about 14.9 liters of high-octane gasoline every 100 kilometers. The powertrain works together with a seven-speed F1 DCT robotized transmission with a pair of clutches. It is characterized by fast performance and rear-wheel drive.
In just 2.9 seconds, the sport coupe Ferrari 812 Surepfast will reach 100 kilometers per hour. After 5 seconds the car will reach 200 km/h. The maximum speed of the “Italian” is 340 kilometers per hour.
As the base the engineers decided to use an aluminum frame with the power unit placed in front and the gearbox moved to the back. This helped to achieve a good axle weight distribution – 47/53. Independent double wishbone suspensions with stabilizers, magnetorheological fluid filled adaptive dampers and coil springs are used throughout.
The coupe’s chassis is fully steerable with an upgraded “virtually shortened wheelbase” system. The SSC side-slip monitoring technology is also present. The Italian model also has electric power steering (for the first time in the history of the company), as well as powerful ventilated disc brakes made of carbon ceramic “in a circle”. They work with a whole list of auxiliary systems.

Officially the cars began to be sold in Europe in the summer of 2017. The price of the Ferrari 812 Superfast at that time was a little more than 300 thousand euros for the basic version. At the same time, even “in the base” the car looks quite good. For example, it boasts:

The most powerful production roadster Ferrari 812 GTS (2019-present)
During a special event at the beginning of September 2019, the Italian company Ferrari officially showed everyone an improved version of the Ferrari 812 coupe – the roadster Ferrari 812 GTS, which is an open version of the 812 Superfast variant. In general, this car is a restyling of the “base” car. In order to somehow distinguish the cars, it was decided to add the prefix GTS to the name.
The new convertible got an aggressive look, definitely attracting everyone’s attention. In addition, it boasts a comfortable interior, able to deliver a high level of comfort to the occupants, as well as excellent technical characteristics, making it one of the fastest convertibles in the world.
Exterior Ferrari 812 GTS
The new model is very similar to the regular version of the car. From the photos of the Ferrari 812 GTS you can see the familiar décor, optics, air intakes, reliefs and other decorations. Only the shape of the roof, the windows, the rear view mirrors and the design of the aft area are different, because it was slightly redesigned in order to add the ability to fold the roof. What stood out here was the stylish and aggressive front end of the Ferrari 812 GTS. It was allotted 1/3 of the entire length, if not more.
In addition to that it has a lot of details which improve aerodynamic characteristics. The engineers have tilted the front end to improve aerodynamics. The decor here is the big hood, which has an abundance of wavy relief. In addition, there are small cutouts to improve cooling of the power plant, located in the front, not in the back, as in most modern sports cars.
Also stands out the optics, equipped with a very aggressive shape and solid size. Inside any version decided to use laser lights. The last but not least touch on the front of the bumper “Italian” is a compact nameplate of the company Ferrari, installed on its very edge. A lot of free space was taken for a bodykit. Its lion’s share is given to a massive grille, complemented by a fine grid, having a chrome emblem of a horse in the center.
The Ferrari 812 GTS roadster is also equipped here with embossed inserts on the sides painted in gloss black. The free space on the dodger is also given to the reliefs, and in the lower part you can notice a compact splitter, which improves many of the performance of the sports car. The car looks very stylish and sporty from the side. You can immediately notice the abundance of relief, distributed over the entire area of the body.
At the top there are compact windows that are frameless and stylish side mirrors that have received turn signal repeaters. The main part of the body is highlighted with relief, has unusual compact-sized door handles and a company badge placed just below the side mirrors.
The lower part has huge, swollen wheel arches, as well as sporty sills. Very prominent are the characteristic “hoods” swells just behind the seats. The novelty is supported by new 20-inch forged “rollers”, offered in 3 versions.
The engineers of the Italian company installed in Ferrari 812 GTS 2020 a mechanism of retractable roof similar to other modern roadsters of the brand. The unfolding/folding time of the hard top will take 14 seconds if the speed mode does not exceed 45 km/h.
The stern of the roadster is very sporty. You can immediately notice the small lid of the luggage compartment, on the sides of which there is room for huge protrusions that have a wave-like relief. The lid trim ends with a protrusion, which improves braking, acceleration, as well as the handling of the car. The rear window is electrically operated and can be lowered even with the roof overhead. Thanks to this, the driver and passenger can fully enjoy the sound of the power unit of the Italians.
In the main part of the bumper there are sports parking lights, which have a round shape. They were assembled in pairs and spread out on the sides. The central part boasts a chrome nameplate of the company, a lot of relief, as well as additional air intakes on the sides. The bodykit is equipped with a deflector, additional brake lights, an abundance of relief and the whole four round big pipes of the exhaust system.
Interior Ferrari 812 GTS
If you take sports cars, they often do not have a comfortable interior, quality trim and so on. However, no such thing can be said about the novelty. The interior of the new Ferrari 812 GTS has only natural leather of the best types, metal, carbon and alcantara. Plain cloth and plastic are absent here. The car is equipped with a modern multimedia complex, as well as a huge number of auxiliary options.
Although the interior is similar to the Superfast, due to the fact that the model comes with an open top, the same system applied here as on the LaFerrari Aperta – two L-shaped valves in the upper corners of the windshield, creating a “concentrated vortex” and direct it over the rear window, which has an electric drive.
On the center console itself, there are only a few small panels containing analog keys, painted in chrome and the deflectors of the ventilation system. All the most important information is placed behind the steering wheel. This is a massive yellow tachometer with red indicators, as well as a “trip computer” display and an entertainment center screen.
None of these screens do not support touch screen input, so the Italians have provided buttons on the steering wheel and the center console to control them. As for the tunnel, it is thin, but long. It boasts the keys to change driving modes, compartments for small items, as well as an armrest, inside of which found room for an additional small organizer.
Inside, there are two sports-type seats, but they differ in the degree of comfort provided to the passengers. Only high-quality natural leather is used as trim, and the filling is always only soft. Not without several variations of electric adjustments, excellent side support, headrests, heating system and even ventilation. In back of the seats there is no place for things. A small luggage compartment with 210 liters of useful space is provided for things.
In this respect the Italians have decided not to change anything. Under the hood is V12 800-horsepower 6.5-liter power plant. Given such figures, this roadster has become the most powerful roadster in the world, which are produced in series order. In addition, it is the first production car in 50 years to have a front-mounted V-12 engine.
All torque is transferred from the engine to the rear wheels via a 7-speed robotized transmission that has two clutches. It takes 3.0 seconds for the roadster to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour. The third hundred is exchanged after 8.3 seconds. The top speed limit is 340 kilometers per hour.
In terms of “chassis”, the car is also similar to the “closed” variant of the sports coupe and is built on a spatial aluminum frame with front-engine placement. Electric power steering helps steer the car. There is Ferrari Peak Performance technology, which helps during cornering by warning of the grip limit.
The Ferrari Power Oversteer function assists with oversteer, giving more feedback to the “steering wheel”. The engineers decided to recalibrate the shock absorbers and fill them with magnetorheological fluid.
The car body has received a high level of rigidity through the use of high-strength steel and heavy-duty carbon fiber. The car has achieved a high level of safety thanks to a large number of electronic assistants, safety systems, which include:
