First generation (1951-1960)
When September 1951 came, the 4W60 version was released, which the plant employees called the Nissan Store. A little later, it was renamed the Nissan Bluebird Store. The 4W60 had a 75 hp 3.7-liter Nissan NAK powertrain from the Nissan 290 bus.
In addition, there was a plug-in all-wheel drive and four-stage “mechanics”. The radiator grille received a steel nameplate. In addition, the 4W70 version was developed. Later, the 4W60 was replaced by the 4W61 model. It happened in the summer of 1955.
The novelty was close to the debut model, except for the radiator grille, one-piece windshield, chrome hood stripes and various sizes of armchairs (the passenger seat was slightly wider than the driver’s seat). Other significant changes affected the propulsion system.
A new 3.7-liter Nissan NB 3.7-liter engine was installed on the 1955 car, which developed 92 horsepower. After a while it was replaced by a 105 hp 4.0-liter Nissan NC engine. The NISSAN nameplate itself on the grille was painted red, with chrome inscription and edging. When October 1958 came, there was a replacement under the name 4W65.
In addition to the radiator grille and modified front fenders, the 4W65 bonnet version was the same as the 4W61. The name “NISSAN” remained on the grille, and icons with the name “Patrol” added to the side of the hood.
It was possible to buy a version of the WG4W65, which was an 8-seater station wagon with a folding hard roof. A short series of 4W66 cartridges was released in late 1959. The only difference was that these versions were equipped with 4.0-liter engines, which produced 125 “horses”. The production was stopped in the summer of 1960.
The off-road version of the car had a utilitarian, however, reliable design – a powerful frame of the ladder type, the wheels of which were attached to the dependent suspension “in a circle”. Sheet springs also found their place. Nissan Patrol, a 1st generation off-road vehicle, received a hydraulic brake system with drum mechanisms on all wheels.
At that time, the Japanese did not install a power steering system. In general, the Nissan Patrol of the 1st family was purchased mostly for armies and power structures of different countries. “Civilian” versions can be found only in private configurations.
Second generation (1959-1980)
The novelty (at that time) made its debut in 1960 and changed the line “4WXX” to “4WXX”. The SUV was produced in series up to 1980 without significant design changes. But modest improvements, however, found their place, and they were regular.
In total, Japanese workers produced and produced more than 170,000 copies of the sixtieth series. There is still a powerful ladder frame, dependent suspension on two axles, leaf springs and full drum brakes on 4 wheels. Three generations (1980-1989)
