How long does it take to charge the machine battery?
In winter, the topics related to batteries are very popular, because cold start can discharge them quickly. Modern batteries can last for a long time: 4-5 years, but if they are charged incorrectly, they can fail much earlier. Preparation before you connect the charger.
- The first thing to do is to wipe the contacts with a dry or wet cloth. In addition, it is best to wipe the device completely from the top so as not to close it. Avoid shorting the battery!
- The second thing you need to do is unscrew the lids on the cans, cleaning the surface of the garbage beforehand, if the battery is a worker. Such works are carried out in order to check the electrolyte level (if it does not cover the whole plate, it is necessary to pour the distilled water) and to check its density (normal value for the working battery is 1.26 – 1.30 g/cm3).
To understand how long it takes to charge the battery, you need to understand how the battery charger works. If this is an automatic device, it can automatically select the current required to charge the battery. This is always about 10 percent of the battery’s capacity.
In other words, a 65 Ah battery will have a current of 6.5 A and an 80 Ah battery will have a current of 8 A respectively. It turns out that per hour the car battery will be charged at 10 percent of its total capacity. If the battery is completely dead, you need 10 hours to fully charge it.
